"But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is long-suffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up." - 2 Peter 3:8-10 (KJV).
Thoughts for Today
Some people are very ignorant concerning the return of Christ. You will hear people say, "Where is He? There are no signs of Him!" Most of us who read the Bible can see the signs of His return coming to pass and we know that it is just a matter of time. We wait and wait for God, but then after years of waiting someone tells us, "I thought He was coming?". He is coming, but what we must understand is that the Lord, is eternal and His timing is not like our timing. A thousand years with Him is like one day. To him the time of His return hasn't really been that long. We're living in year 2013 after the death of Christ, to Him that is like two days. It's not that long to Him, so when He says soon... He isn't lying, he just has a different definition of soon than we do. When you talk about God, you talk about an eternal being who never dies or grows old, He is not restricted to time. He always was and always will be.
God, is also patient and loving. The Lord, is not slacking toward His promise of His return, but He is long-suffering to us. He isn't willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance and have everlasting life. God, waits because He loves you! I've had people tell me, "How could God, send people to Hell who never got the message about Him?". Well, let me explain something else: When Christ died on the cross He went to the bowels of the earth (Hell) for three days. He didn't go there because He did something wrong, but He went there to preach to all the souls who didn't know Him. Those souls were given another chance. Does that sound like a God, who doesn't give everyone a chance? I believe that before one dies they some how get a chance. That is my personal belief, but I also believe that it is our job to spread the Word of God, to those who don't know Him.
Anyway, back to the subject on hand. God, is not slacking nor did He lie about the return of Christ. God, can not lie. I'm telling you the reason is as these scriptures say, He wants everyone to have a chance. There is also a scripture where Jesus, says, "And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come." If you want the return of Christ, then help the cause and spread God's Word to the world! It's our job to help the prophesy come to pass. Spread God's Word and don't fear the end of this world!
Also these scriptures say, "The day of the Lord, shall come as a thief in the night.". That means to be ready and right with God, at all times. The day you stop expecting Christ, to return is the day He may very well come and you may not be ready to go. Put on clothes (righteousness) and get ready to leave with Jesus! To answer the question, "When will Christ return?". No one knows, but it will be in His timing!
Prayer: "Our Loving Heavenly Father,
Thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins and we forgive all those who've wronged us. Help us to be ready for your return at all times and to never think that you are slacking concerning your promise. Help us to spread your gospel to all the nations of this earth. Spark a revival through us. Thank you for hearing and answering my prayer. Gratefully, In Jesus Loving Name I Pray,
Amen."
Have a Blessed Saturday and God Bless you.
